 Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the 9th entry into the Wizarding World and is directed by David Yates (Harry Potter, The Legend of Tarzan) and is the debut screenplay from J.K. Rowling. The film stars Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything, The Danish Girl), Colin Farrell (Phone Booth, Total Recall), Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice, Steve Jobs), Alison Sudol (Between Us, Other People's Children), Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, DCEU) and Dan Fogler (Kung Fu Panda, Balls of Fury)...oh and a load of fantastic beasts. "The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York's secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school". Is J.K. Rowling able to produce something within the wizarding world that is as magnificent as Potter?

They needed hot dates, they got hot messes. 

 Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is directed by Jake Szymanski (Saturday Night Live, 7 Days in Hell) and stars Zac Efron (17 Again, High School Musical), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect, The Intern), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect, Into the Woods) and Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa, Parks and Recreation). "Two hard-partying brothers place an online ad to find the perfect dates for their sister's Hawaiian wedding. Hoping for a wild getaway, the boys instead find themselves out-hustled by an uncontrollable duo". This film stars some of the biggest young stars out there right now, does it put them to good use or does Efron continue to make duds? 

Sometimes It Takes Nine Lives To Save One

 A Street Cat Named Bob is directed by Roger Spottiswoode (Tomorrow Never Dies, The 6th Day) and stars Luke Treadaway (Unbroken, Clash of the Titans), Bob the Cat, Ruta Gedmintas (Prowl, The Strain) and Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey, Filth). "Based on the international best selling book. The true feel good story of how James Bowen, a busker and recovering drug addict, had his life transformed when he met a stray ginger cat". A bestselling book about a true story, does this peculiar story translate well to film?

When you love someone, you can't just throw it away

 Nocturnal Animals is written and directed by Tom Ford (A Single Man) and stars Amy Adams (Arrival, Enchanted), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Southpaw), Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, Take Shelter), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Godzilla) and Isla Fisher (Now You See Me, Home and Away). "An art gallery owner is haunted by her ex-husband's novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat and a symbolic revenge tale". Ford doesn't have too much experience in the film industry but he is sure to bring a lot of style to anything he makes - can he make a stylish but still thrilling film?

Love Demands Everything
 The Light Between Oceans is directed by Derek Cianfrance (The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine) and stars Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds, Prometheus), Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl, Ex Machina) and Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, Constantine). "A lighthouse keeper and his wife living off the coast of Western Australia raise a baby they rescue from an adrift rowboat". This film has a brilliant cast and a director with a great resume - surely it is the recipe for perfection?

 The Neon Demon is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) and stars Elle Fanning (Maleficent, Super 8), Jena Malone (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Pride & Prejudice), Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows, Pride & Prejudice & Zombies), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road, Gods of Egypt) and Keanu Reeves (John Wick, The Matrix). "When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has". The Neon Demon has been marketed as the modelling version of Black Swan - can it be as good or even better than that film?

 Arrival is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) and stars Amy Adams (American Hustle, Enchanted) and Jeremy Renner (The Avengers, The Bourne Legacy). "A linguist is recruited by the military to assist in translating alien communications". So Sicario topped my year end list of 2015, Prisoners is still one of my favourite thrillers...Arrival has a bar to meet - no pressure Villeneuve! Is this another win for the director?

 Ouija: Origin of Evil is directed by Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Hush) and stars Elizabeth Reaser (The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn: Part 2, Young Adult), Annalise Basso (Oculus, Captain Fantastic) and Lulu Wilson (Deliver Us From Evil, The Millers). "In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their seance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by a merciless spirit, the family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side". The first Ouija is known as one of the worst horror films ever made, surely the sequel has to be better?
