 Transformers: The Last Knight is directed by Michael Bay (Transformers, 13 Hours) and stars Mark Wahlberg (Patriot's Day, Ted), Laura Haddock (The Inbetweeners Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy), Josh Duhamel (Safe Haven, Las Vegas), Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal, Red Dragon) and Isabela Moner (Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life). "Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth". One of the most critically panned franchises ever made but they continue to make money - will this be the first great Transformers film?

This post is the start of what I hope to become a new segment on A Selenator's View. I've found that there are some films that I just don't have enough to say about to write a full-length review and I often watch films for the first time after their DVD release. Unless I really am passionate about a film I have watched on DVD or streaming, I often don't write my thoughts. This is where 'Micro Reviews' comes in - every so often, I will do a round up of recent films I have seen that could be older releases or film's I don't have too much to say on. 

For this post, I will be reviewing Hello, My Name is Doris, Personal Shopper, Fallen and Money Monster. These reviews will be briefer than usual, hence 'micro' reviews but they will I will still give a general consensus and score on/for each film. The main aim of these posts will to be make my thoughts on every film I see 'canon' - somewhere to track my thoughts on even the films I don't see at the cinema.

 My Cousin Rachel is directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Changing Lanes) and stars Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, Constantine) and Sam Claflin (Me Before You, The Hunger Games). "A young Englishman plots revenge against his mysterious, beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian. But his feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling under the beguiling spell of her charms". Released in the midst of summer blockbusters, can a small period drama like My Cousin Rachel shine?

 The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us) and stars Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible, Top Gun), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Star Trek Beyond), Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle, X-Men: First Class) and Russell Crowe (Noah, Gladiator). "An ancient princess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension". There's a lot riding on The Mummy - it's launching Universal's Dark Universe. Tom Cruise in a summer action flick - what could possibly go wrong?

License to Kill. License to Chill.

 Keeping Up with the Joneses is directed by Greg Mottola (Superbad, Paul) and stars Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Due Date), Isla Fisher (Now You See Me, Grimsby), Jon Hamm (Mad Men, The Town) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman, Fast & Furious). "A suburban couple becomes embroiled in an international espionage plot when they discover that their seemingly perfect new neighbors are government spies". Will Keeping Up with the Joneses be able to compete in a genre that has raised the bar in recent years or is this nothing but a disposable and forgettable spy flick?

 Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster, The Killing) and stars Gal Gadot (Fast Five, Keeping Up with the Joneses), Chris Pine (Star Trek, Hell or High Water) and David Thewlis (Harry Potter, Naked). "Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny". The DCEU set off on a rocky road - Man of Steel, BvS and Suicide Squad were all disappointments for many - will Wonder Woman have the power to break the curse?
