Never Let Go
Everest is directed by Baltasar Kormakur (Contraband, 2 Guns) and stars Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Josh Brolin (W., Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Jake Gyllenhaal (Southpaw, Nightcrawler) and Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Imitation Game). "A climbing expedition on Mt. Everest is devastated by a severe snow storm". Will Everest be able to kick off the awards season with a bang or will it just be a dull and long trip?
So Awards season has begun with studios releasing films they hope to become the most acclaimed of the year. These films aren't usually huge box office wise but are still usually worth watching. I have to admit, this time of the movie year is probably my least favourite as all the films require a lot of attention and are usually very tense/dramatic. Even if you want a break from these type of films, the only other films out that aren't blockbusters are usually rubbish. This year, I believe we have a good balance of smaller films and big films - in this post, I will talk abut the smaller films I can't wait to see.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 is directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, I Am Legend) and stars Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle), Josh Hutcherson (Epic, Red Dawn), Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The LEGO Movie) and Julianna Moore (Still Alice, Seventh Son). "After being symbolized as the "Mockingjay", Katniss Everdeen and District 13 engage in an all-out revolution against the autocratic Capitol". The film will be the 4th and final in the franchise but will it be the best? The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 hits UK cinemas November 19th 2015 and US Cinemas November 20th 2015.
The Jungle Book is directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Chef) and is the next live action Disney fairytale to be released from the house of mouse. The film stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers, Lucy), Idris Elba (Pacific Rim, Prometheus), Bill Murray (Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters) and Ben Kingsley (Shutter Island, Hugo). "An orphan boy is raised in the jungle with the help of a pack of wolves, a bear, and a black panther". In my opinion, Disney hasn't made a wrong movie with their live action fairytales as of yet...will The Jungle Book be another win? The Jungle Book hits cinemas April 15th 2016.
Creed is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station) and is the next instalment in the Rocky franchise. The film stars Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, The Expendables), Michael B. Jordan (Fantastic Four, That Awkward Moment) and Tessa Thompson (Selma, Dear White People). "The former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa serves as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of his late friend and former rival Apollo Creed". So the first trailer for this movie was a roaring success, can trailer 2 match it? Creed hits cinemas in the USA November 25th 2015 and in the UK February 19th 2016.

The Visit is directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs). The film stars Olivia DeJonge (Hiding, The Sisterhood of Night), Ed Oxenbould (Alexander and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Paper Planes), Peter McRobbie (Lincoln, Spider-Man 2), Deanna Dunagan (Have a Little Faith, Running Scared) and Kathryn Hahn (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, We're the Millers). "A single mother finds that things in her family's life go very wrong after her two young children visit their grandparents". The director of this film hasn't made a good film for years, is the time now or is that just wishful thinking?
