The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016) - Trailer Review
2:52 PM
Allegiant will be the 3rd instalment in the Divergent series. The film stars Shailene Woodley (The Fault in Our Stars, The Descendants), Theo James (Underworld: Awakening, The Inbetweeners Movie), Miles Teller (Whiplash, Fantastic Four) and Naomi Watts (King Kong, The Impossible). Here is the films synopsis: "Beatrice Prior and Tobias Eaton venture into the world outside of the fence and are taken into protective custody by a mysterious agency known as the Bureau of Genetic Welfare". So, I thought Insurgent was a step back for the franchise, is Allegiant a step back into the right direction? Allegiant hits cinemas March 18th 2016.
What I Like:
- The trailer follows a similar pattern to the first Mockingjay: Part 2 poster where it shows memorable and key parts from the first two movies which I liked. This will help audiences recognise what series this new film belongs to.
- I actually like that Tris' hair has grown a bit longer as in the books, her hair was never as short as it was in Insurgent
- The film looks like it is going to be action packed like the other 2 films
- The mystery man at the end is quite intriguing
What I Don't Like:
- The YA Genre is just blending into one big film - this is now reminding me of the first Maze Runner film. There is literally no originality.
- The special effects on the other side of the wall look awful - that red area looks so fake and just that someone has been playing around with the hue and saturation.
- Theo James' role seems to be a little bigger and I don't think he is that talented
- The slogan is a little pants 'the world beyond the wall'
- The shot at 1:17 is almost laughable - is it Theo James' turn to win a Razzie?
Overall, I'm not too impressed with this trailer. I loved the first Divergent film and I thought Insurgent was OK. I think work is probably still being done on the special effects so maybe I can have hope that this look isn't the finished one. I was also hoping for more Shailene than Theo but it seems that their roles have became about equal sizes now. I did like how the trailer finished with a mystery that non-book readers will find intriguing. A little bit let down by this trailer...maybe all the trailers will be bad and then the actual film will be amazing? a la The Visit.
Will you be watching ALLEGIANT?

Too much talking … I think this basically a transition movie for the last one. But the story is so true about human being. There is always something that we may not agree to no matter where we go.
