SELENA GOMEZ TO STAR IN JAMES FRANCO'S 'IN DUBIOUS BATTLE'

On January 30th, it was announced that Franco will be directing and starring in an adaption of John Steinbeck's 1936 novel 'In Dubious Battle'.

Here is a summary that Variety gave of the book/film:

'The original novel portrays the struggle between labor and capital in 1930s America as close to all-out warfare. Published in 1936, “In Dubious Battle” is considered Steinbeck’s first major work. Set in a fictionalized valley in California, the story explores themes Steinbeck later continued to develop: group behavior, social injustice, man’s inhumanity to man. A labor conflict between migrant apple pickers and the local growers’ association is the backdrop against which Jim Nolan (Franco) becomes involved in the labor movement and rapidly matures as he learns what it means to do organizational fieldwork.'

Franco also announced the cast of the film, we are particularly excited for this as SELENA GOMEZ has been announced to star in the film - it is unsure who she will play yet as only Franco's character has been revealed. Other stars include Vincent D'Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston and Danny McBride.

This is Gomez's second film announcement of the year and it is only February - she is going to be a very busy lady! This role also seems to fit in the 'drama' genre along with her role in The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving. Does this mean Gomez is serious about becoming a successful actress? (we hope so!).

Franco starred alongside Gomez in 2013's Spring Breakers (which we loved). Will the dream team be amazing again?

In Dubious Battle starts filming in March and the films distribution rights will be available to buy at the Berlin Film Festival.
