Ted 2: Thoughts Based on Trailer

11:33 AM

On the 29th January 2015, Universal released the official trailer for Ted 2. If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch it on this post by clicking on the video that is on the right hand side of this post.

The trailer starts with the same voiceover/narrator from the original: this immediately links the sequel with the first film. Within less than 20 seconds I laughed 'You may kiss the bear' - you can tell that this film is going to be even sillier than the first (but will it be funnier?-I hope so!). The voiceover also make some funny statements in the first 30 seconds of the trailer that brought smiles to my face. The 'Sam L Jackson' joke is quite funny too.

And then the plot goes south. Ted is trying to have a baby. This sounds utterly ridiculous, however it is sugar coated with a couple of funny scenes afterwards. This film is going to be very stupid and silly - hopefully it will still have some original moments.
The animation of Ted looks different to the first time around- he looms a lot more 'cartoony' - hopefully this won't end up looking like Hop or Alvin and the Chipmunks.
However, the trailer saves itself from being ridiculous by laughing at its own plot. For Ted to have a baby, he has to prove to the court that he is a real person - now that is a more realistic approach. The film also seems to have silly but nice message about equality which could be a nice unique quality for a comedy film. I also enjoyed the clip of Ted singing soul music at the court and the judge joining in.
Welcome Amanda Seyfried! She is one of my favourite actresses but I hope Mila Kunis will also return in this film (Even her role will be really small). Seyfried is likeable and quite humorous so I think that this film is a good career move for her.

Overall, I really enjoyed the trailer - it was light hearted, silly and fun. I wasn't a huge fan of 'Ted' but I really think that this film has the potential to be really good! However, I do have my worries - will all the funny parts just be in the trailer? Will Seth McFarlane be able to save himself from the Razzie nominated A Million Ways to Die in the West? Will Mila Kunis star?

General Consensus: Looks a lot better than the first film with some humorous moments. Good casting with Amanda Seyfried and Morgan Freeman but can Ted 2 break the curse of sequels?

Will you be Watching TED 2 on June 26th (or July 10th for the UK)? What would you like me to post about next?- COMMENT BELOW
