Avengers - Age of Ultron: Thoughts Based on Trailer 2

12:12 PM

On the 12th January 2015 (6 Days after Ant-Man), Marvel released the second trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron. If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch it on this post by clicking on the video that is on the right hand side of this post.

I felt that the first trailer was very good and poised a very dark theme for the film. This trailer continues that theme successfully - there is no cliche music, it is very soft which makes things a lot more serious and tense. The trailer once again uses voiceovers which add to the mystery.

The first few sequences of the trailer see people running and rushing around. This creates suspense as viewers do not know why this is occurring. The soft music also creates a negative feel which could suggest that a bad thing is happening. A woman falls over, the screen goes black and the music pauses - this effectively creates suspense as it creates a lot of drama and captures the viewers attention. The voiceover now begins. There are a lot of different shots of all of the avengers on there own. They all seem to be in scenes with dull lighting which could suggest that this film is going to be very dark.

'Everyone creates the thing they dread' is said by (what seems to be) Iron Man. This suggests that he may be the creator of Ultron - how exciting! Iron Man seems to get involved in lots of battles from the rest of the trailer which could suggest he is the protagonist of this film. There is also a scene in the trailer where Thor holds Iron Mans neck and puts him in the air - is Iron Man about to betray the Avengers?

The special effects look brilliant. The amount of 'robots' that are in this film must have meant a lot of time and effort was spent in the CGI department. The explosions also look very realistic. Marvel films always seem to have the budget to 'go big or go home' - their effects always look good! The trailer shows clips of an impressive battle sequence between an enlarged Iron Man vs The Hulk..this plot could really be interesting. I wonder what has happened to make Iron Man switch sides.

One thing I worry about with this film is the villain - can a robot really be scary? My favourite marvel villains have been humans or aliens, I just don't think a robot can create a lot of mystery - they are just made of metal!

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1st. I'll definitely be seeing this film - I just hope it doesn't follow the stereotypical sequel route (sequels are generally never as good). With all of the success from Captain America 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, surely the Avengers 2 will be excellent! Also, the acting will be nothing to worry about - all of these actors have performed well in their previous Marvel films.

I felt that this trailer took a similar approach to the first: The Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies trailer...anyone else agree?

General Consensus: The film looks very dark and that it will have some meaning behind it (e.g. friendship and jealousy).
